1. Basic Requirement: The 8-Year Uninterrupted Service Rule

The first step toward obtaining a long-term residence permit is having resided in Turkey for 8 years with valid residence permits and without any interruptions. However, there is a very important exception here:

• Student Residence Permit: If you spent part of those 8 years with a student residence permit, only half of that time counts toward the long-term residence permit requirement. Be sure to take this into account when calculating your eligibility.

2. Daily Count and Restrictions on Travel Abroad

3. Economic and Social Conditions

The government expects a person to whom it grants a long-term residence permit to be self-sufficient. For this reason, the following conditions must be met:

• Regular Income Requirement: It is not enough to simply say, “I have money.” You must prove that you have had a regular monthly income above the net minimum wage for the last 6 months prior to your application. The source of your income must be verifiable.
• Insurance Requirement: You must have valid health insurance coverage in Turkey. If you have a work permit, a provisional insurance certificate is sufficient; otherwise, you must obtain comprehensive private health insurance.
• Social Assistance Rule: You must not have received any assistance from Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations within the last 3 years.

4. Validity Period Prior to Application
