Age is a factor in determining which level of education you can apply for under a student residence permit. This tool shows which levels of student residence permit you may be eligible for based on your date of birth.
Why is age important?
A student residence permit is issued based on the educational institution and level of study. The requirements for elementary and secondary education are not the same as those for higher education; age is one of the factors determining this distinction.
Age alone does not determine the outcome: active student enrollment, duration of study, and the nature of the institution are also taken into account.
After Graduation
Half of the time spent with a student residence permit is counted toward the eight-year requirement for a long-term residence permit. Four years of student residence are counted as two years.
According to the Presidency of Migration Management’s publicly available official statement, a post-graduation residence permit is issued as a one-time authorization for a maximum of one year.

A student residence permit does not, by itself, grant the right to work. Associate’s and bachelor’s degree students may work with a part-time work permit after completing their first year of study.
When processing a work permit application, the student’s educational level, active enrollment status, and the nature of the job are evaluated together. Applications submitted on behalf of foreign students to work in domestic service are denied.
